Oksoy Class MCMV

1. Alta/Oksoy Class Mine Countermeasure Vessels: In April 2004, the RNoN ordered the advanced DataChief C20 Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) from Kongsberg Maritime. The US$3.4M contract includes the six vessels that remain in service. The entire class will have the IPMS installed by 2008.

After a successful test of the HUGIN mine reconnaissance system onboard the Karmoy in 2003, the RNoN is moving ahead with the installation of the system on the remaining five units. Two additional units were complete by 2005 and the remaining three are expected to have the reconnaissance system by 2007.

2. Artic/Nordkapp Class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs): In late 2005, EADS signed a US$10M contract with the Royal Norwegian Coast Guard (RNoCG) for the purchase of four TRS-3D surveillance radars. The radars will be installed on the single Artic and three Nordkapp class OPVs in order to improve coastal surveillance. The radars will be installed on all four vessels by 2007.
