Bob
joined AMI in 2007 after a 22 year career as a naval officer. He advises on
defense, naval, maritime, C4/ISR, aerospace, and unmanned systems markets. His
skill sets include strategic planning, defense systems, tactics, and platform
analysis; market and risk research; business process improvement; and
international project management.
Bob graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval War College in 2004 and has attended the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and Defense Language Institute where he studied Russian. He received his M.B.A in 2007 from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia.
His last billet was Director of Command and Control overseeing major C4ISR programs on the U.S. Navy's acquisition staff in the Pentagon. During his naval career Bob served as Assistant Naval Attache in Moscow, current intelligence department head on the U.S. Navy staff in London, and in analytic and watch officer assignments in Hawaii, South Korea, and Japan. He has also been a Staff Intelligence Officer afloat for expeditionary and aviation units.
Bob is married to Nancy Smedberg of McLean, Virginia. They live in Seabeck, Washington with their seven children. He is an adjunct instructor in Economics and Accounting for Vincennes University's Military Education Program and coaches in youth athletic programs.
