Zach joined AMI International in 2010 from his previous position as Managing Editor of Inside the Navy -- a leading trade publication covering the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
In his 5 years covering the “naval beat,” Zach has focused on naval technology, sensors, systems, operations and personnel issues. He has written about sea service acquisition issues, the 2007 debut of the Cooperative Maritime Strategy and has interviewed three chiefs of Naval Operations, two Marine Commandants and three Secretaries of the Navy since 2005.
Prior to his stint at Inside the Navy, Zach reported for Navy Times, where he profiled senior naval leaders and wrote extensively about shipbuilding. His reporting at Navy Times also included embarks on several ships and travels to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Zach is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (BA, history/political science) and Michigan State University (MA, journalism). He lives in Washington, DC.
